Village of Hempstead
H2M evaluated options for replacing their aging electrical infrastructure built during the late 1920s. The project entailed demolition of the exiting 4160 volt service, electrical switchgear, motor controls, synchronous motors and direct drive backup engines. A new 480 volt, 2000 amp services was installed with new solid state motor controls and duel diesel fired generators in sound attenuated enclosures. The generators provide backup power to all of the water plant wells and booster totaling 1300 horsepower.
