As we approach the end of another successful year for our clients, our employees, and our company, I take great pride in delivering this year-end message. There is no better time to reflect on what we have accomplished together, the challenges we have overcome along the way, and the plans we have for an exciting and bright future. It seems that every year brings something new, something to learn from, so when your growing and evolving as an organization, remaining open-minded and aware is critical to stay the course. Embrace being retrospective to keep moving forward.

Over the last 86 years, H2M has remained dedicated to the quality of our work, to developing new growth strategies, to increasing our internal capabilities, and to building trusted and long-lasting relationships with our clients, our staff, and our communities. We pride ourselves on providing and delivering high-quality solutions that are customized to meet the unique goals and objectives of each project. I believe that our continued success is driven by technical expertise and a desire for excellence, based in the fundamentals of project management and execution. This year, we committed substantial time and resources to the development of H2M’s Core of Excellence. The “Core” is principled in achieving the highest quality and effectiveness on all of our projects for all of our clients. Although there will always be areas of needed improvement, our meaningful corporate commitment to project excellence is a first-step achievement with which we are all proud. Like everything we do, the proof is in the execution, and I’m confident we are putting the right pieces in place. More to come…

We are entering our 87th year undeniably healthier than we have ever been. In a busy year of growth and change, particular highlights beyond our Core of Excellence have included the acquisition of a successful architecture firm; the launching of a firm wide Learning and Development Training strategy; the continued expansion of our work nationally in the Emergency Services Market; the marshalling of our resources in the continued support of the PSEG-LI FEMA funded Hazard Mitigation Program as acting Program Manager; the progression of our expertise in the response to emerging contaminants affecting drinking water quality nation-wide; and the expansion of our expertise in all facets of Assisted Living Communities, including design and regulatory compliance within the 5 boroughs of New York City (page 5).

We continue to leverage this collective strength as we proceed into 2020, while our strategy and vision focuses on expanding the reach of our professional service offerings further across the northeast region within the markets we serve. Moving forward, we anticipate that our hardening and resiliency capabilities will be seen as a best practice in national infrastructure; we see our efforts in the health care arena positioning us well to assist facilities in becoming more efficient and customer centric, especially with the emergence of urgent care centers; we expect further development of expertise in water/wastewater quality and treatment of emerging contaminants; and lastly, we foresee, through our research and development, the importance in implementing renewable energy as it becomes more widely recognized. To achieve an expanded reach while maintaining excellence in quality, our commitment to systematic and process driven work-sharing amongst our eight regional offices will allow us to easily transfer work and best serve our clients. In the end, we will be judged by how well we execute our work.

In closing, I would like to extend gratitude to our clients and partners for your sustained confidence in H2M. We strive to put our clients at the heart of everything we do and wish to express our thanks and appreciation for our relationships. For the employees, you know how I feel about you. Wishing you all a healthy and prosperous new year!

Trends in Continuum of Care Facilities

Due to the aging of the Baby Boomer population, in the last five years the trend in Continuum of Care campus like senior communities has grown in popularity. As a result of this, the development of Independent Senior Living Housing being constructed on the same campus as Assisted Living Facilities continues to be the option of choice. We are seeing independent seniors taking a proactive approach to long term life planning. As this increases, the need for responsive design and development is apparent.
