Dennis M. Kelleher, P.E. receives NYSSPE Engineer of the Year award

On Friday, June 12, the New York State Society of Professional Engineers awarded Dennis M. Kelleher, P.E., of H2M architects + engineers, the Engineer of the Year award.

Mr. Kelleher accepted the award at the NYSSPE’s Annual Installation and Awards Banquet at the Fort William Henry Hotel & Conference Center in Lake George, NY.

A graduate of the University of Buffalo, Mr. Kelleher has devoted his entire 37-year career to building and improving water supply and wastewater systems throughout Long Island. On his track to becoming H2M Water’s President, he has developed expertise in public water supplies, groundwater, water resource development, distribution systems, storage and water treatment. He is also an advocate for the protection of safe water resources in the region.

The Engineer of the Year award is presented by the NYSSPE to a professional engineer who has made an outstanding contribution to the goals of the Society of Professional Engineers by means of educational, collegiate and engineering achievements; professional society, technical society, civic and humanitarian activities; and displayed continuing competence.

The NYSSPE is an organization of engineering professionals from all disciplines and employment sectors that advocates licensure, promotes the ethical, competent and lawful practice of engineering, and enhances the image and interests of its members and the engineering profession. It is a state society of the National Society of Professional Engineers, which serves over 45,000 members through 53 state and territorial societies and more than 500 chapters.

This is the third time in the last two years that an organization has recognized Mr. Kelleher as Engineer of the Year. In 2014, he was named Engineer of the Year by both the NYSSPE Suffolk Chapter and the Metropolitan Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Mr. Kelleher currently resides in in Centereach, NY with his wife, Patricia.
