MELVILLE, NY, MARCH 13, 2018 —

Senior Project Engineer at H2M architects + engineers (H2M), Gregory Levasseur, P.E., was recently awarded the Board of Director Service Award by the New York Water Environment Association, Inc. (NYWEA) during the NYWEA Award Gala ceremony held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

“H2M Architects + Engineers is very proud of Greg for his recognition by the New York Water Environment Association,” said Rich Humann, P.E., President and CEO of H2M architects + engineers. “Greg has been a vital asset to the tremendous growth we have enjoyed at H2M in recent years. His thought leadership in our firm and throughout the industry serves as a prime example of the creativity and pragmatism with which we approach our work at H2M.”

Levasseur has been a member of NYWEA since 2004 when he was nominated by H2M’s President and CEO, Rich Humann, P.E. During his tenure, Levasseur embraced various leadership roles, recognizing the importance of the organization’s role as stewards of the environment. In 2007 Levasseur became the Long Island Young Professional Committee Chairperson up until 2015, when he then became the Committee Chair on the Board of Directors for the state chapter. In this position Levasseur saw the inner workings of the organization and gained a better sense and understanding regarding just how much work is done when striving for environmental benefits. Whether it is through legislation pushing different actions to improve water quality through the state level, or budgeting infrastructure to the state; his term on the Board was beneficial to Levasseur’s skill set and overall knowledge of the industry.

Currently, Levasseur serves as Board of Director for the Long Island Chapter, where he is more involved in educating younger people about the importance of being involved in associations like NYWEA. He wants to encourage young engineers to take advantage of the ability to have a voice for Long Island through the workings of NYWEA.

NYWEA “was founded in 1929, by professionals in the field of water quality as a non-profit, educational organization.  Association members helped lead the way toward existing state and national clean water programs. Today the Association has over 2,500 members representing diverse backgrounds and specialties, but all are concerned and involved with protecting and enhancing our precious water resources,” (NYWEA). NYWEA works to promote sustainable clean water quality management through science and education.

H2M is a proud supporter and participant in NYWEA’s work and the overall mission of the Water Environment Federation. We are thrilled for Mr. Levasseur’s recognition and proud of his leadership and commitment to the important work of responsible environmental stewardship.
