H2M Recognized as Leading Design Firm in the Nation

H2M architects + engineers Receives Industry-Wide Acclaim as Leader in Design

Melville, NY (July 16, 2018)—

H2M architects + engineers—Long Island’s leading full-service architectural, engineering and environmental firm, recently received commendations from Engineering News-Record as one of the top design firms in the nation. H2M jumped 25 spots in the publication’s list of the 2018 Top 500 Design Firms from its position in 2017. The firm’s architectural practice received specific recognition from Architectural Record’s aggregate list of the 2018 Top 300 Architecture Firms in the nation, where its national placement advanced 30 spots in national rankings. This national recognition comes on the heels of the firm’s expansion within the region and a record number of projects in the fiscal year.

“It’s an honor for H2M to continue to be mentioned in this list of esteemed peers in the architectural and engineering fields,” said H2M President and CEO Rich Humann. “This recognition is a testament to the extraordinary commitment and efforts of our professional staff and the trust placed upon us by our clients, and we look forward to continued growth with them in the years to come.”

Established in the heart of the Great Depression, H2M began its operations as a land surveying practice out of the kitchen of founder Henry ‘Gus’ Holzmacher in 1933. In the 85 years that followed, Holzmacher, McLendon and Murrell became H2M Architects + Engineers and has become a regional leader in the architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting space, serving its clients and markets out of seven offices in the tristate region. As part of its tremendous growth in recent years, H2M announced in 2018 its re-structured leadership approach  to account for and support evolving focus areas in the firm to accommodate its regional expansion across the Northeast.

“We are seeing more and more often that clients are looking for a greater level of specialization in our service offerings,” Humann continued. “Too often, design firms are lumped together as licensed professionals who are perceived to  all know how to get the same job done the same way. The fact of the matter is that we all have special experience, expertise and skill sets that separate us from one another. These changes to our leadership structure and the addition of new positions allow us to strengthen our efforts in client management and continue evolving our service offerings to broaden our skill sets and continue to bring the greatest value possible to our clients.”

In addition to making more than 60 promotions of staff and project engineers, designers and scientists, associate and Vice President-level employees, H2M has also paved the way for the reorganization and creation of new c-suite positions within the company. The first step in its five-year strategic outlook, the internal restructuring will allow for H2M’s continued development in existing service areas and provide the resources to continue building on budding offerings.

Celebrating 85 years, H2M is a full-service consulting and design firm offering the expertise of more than 390 architects, engineers (water supply, civil/site, structural, M/E/P, wastewater and environmental), planners, designers, inspectors, surveyors and scientists. H2M is proud of its long history of client service and consistent ability to meet architectural, engineering, and environmental challenges head on. H2M offers a practical approach, with creative results.
