Winged Foot Tank

Tank Rehabilitation

Mamaroneck, NY

Over the years, H2M has completed the construction of several new tanks, tank rehabilitation, and annual tank inspections for Westchester Joint Water Works. Upon inspecting the Winged Foot Tank in Mamaroneck, NY, it was determined rehabilitation was needed.

After inspecting the Winged Foot Tank, it was determined that a new exterior and interior water cavity coating was required on the tank. Additionally, the tank required a new tank vent, beacon light, and modifications to the tank hatches.

The tank is located on a golf course which made the deliveries and storage aspect difficult. There were also site constraints, including a tight area to work with and a pond that was classified as a wetland adjacent to the site. This required very distinct coordination with the golf course.

H2M needed to specify a tank vent, beacon light, railing, coating system, and provide specifications for blasting and painting. All existing blasted paint needed to be disposed of in accordance with all local, State, and Federal laws.

As part of the project, there was a base and alternative coating system specified for the exterior tank coating. The client opted for the alternative coating system, as it provides a longer life for the coatings.

To comply with Westchester County, Mamaroneck Police, and Mamaroneck Fire, the railings of the tank were specifically designed to accommodate future and existing clearances required for the emergency services radio antennas.
