New Rochelle Downtown Sewer Upgrade Recognized in State and National Engineering Competitions

H2M architects + engineers has received two major honors for its wastewater infrastructure work in New Rochelle, NY: The Diamond Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) and the National Recognition Award from ACEC’s 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards.

City of New Rochelle Sanitary Sewer Capacity Expansion supports up to 12 million square feet of new commercial and residential development in New Rochelle’s Downtown Overlay Zone and involves surveying 27,500 linear feet of sewer, modeling future capacity needs, and designing a major system expansion. H2M’s design nearly doubled the system’s capacity while maintaining uninterrupted utility services during construction.

The Diamond Award, ACEC New York’s highest honor, qualified the project for national consideration. At the national level, it was selected among 194 entries for its technical innovation, long-term value, and community impact.
