H2M Cuts Ribbon on Mixed-Use Landmark Building
Team members from H2M architects + engineers (H2M) joined developer Blue & Gold Homes for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of The Landmark in Huntington Station, NY.
H2M Real Estate Market Director Michele Pincus, Esq., and civil engineers Danielle Drake, P.E., LEED GA, and William Spitz, P.E., represented H2M at the ribbon cutting. Other event attendees included representatives from the Town of Huntington, New York State Senate, and Long Island Builders Institute.
The Landmark is a mixed-use development featuring approximately 3,500 square feet of retail space and nearly 15,000 square feet of residential space across 16 apartment units. H2M performed a survey, prepared site and subdivision plans, provided landscape architecture and civil engineering services, subcontracted structural engineers, and handled construction administration. The firm also facilitated all necessary permitting with the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County Department of Health Services, and New York State Department of Transportation.
The existing building on site was once the home of the Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Teich House, a historic property that the Huntington Town Board designated as a historic landmark in 2018. Dr. Samuel Teich was a beloved doctor in the community who ran his medical practice on the property from 1935 to 1985, delivering thousands of babies and helping countless other residents over the course of his 50-year medical career. In order to not disturb the historic building, H2M seamlessly worked its location into the new site layout.
For landscaping design, H2M used non-invasive, low-maintenance, sustainable greenery. Over 20 percent of the plants are pollinator-friendly, over 30 percent are drought-friendly, and approximately 67 percent are native to the area. The development features 21 different species of plant to maximize biodiversity and the complexity of native plant communities.
This mixed-use development represents a broader push for walkability in Long Island’s communities and serves as a key component of ongoing revitalization efforts in Huntington Station.
