H2M Drainage Project Featured in Newsday
One of H2M’s prominent projects — drainage improvements and parkland renovations at Whelan Field in Malverne, NY — was recently covered by Newsday.
The team, led by Vice President and Civil Engineering Department Manager Matthew Mohlin, P.E., designed drainage improvements to the Pine Stream, a local tributary that regularly flooded during rain events. Among several implementations were new native plantings to replace invasive plant species along Pine Stream, as well as drainage system beneath the nearby Whelan Field parkland to absorb stormwater into the ground and filter the water entering Pine Stream.

After implementing the new system into Whelan Field, H2M also designed and oversaw major renovations to the parkland, including two new baseball fields, a walking path with educational signage and exercise stations, a pavilion, and a dog park with sections for both large and small dogs.

The Village formally opened the upgraded park in early September at a grand reopening ceremony featuring state and local officials and members of the Malverne community.
