H2M Receives Best Original Design in Long Island’s Canstruction Competition
We are thrilled to announce that H2M architects + engineers received the Best Original Design in the Canstruction Long Island 19th Annual Competition!

Canstruction, founded in 1992, is a unique charity competition in which teams of architects, engineers, and contractors gather to build large, vibrant structures entirely out of canned goods.
This year, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of JAWS, our team created a sculpture inspired by the legendary film, using tuna cans to bring the Great White Shark to life. Underwater elements were built using a colorful mix of canned vegetables, chili, and beans, making the display visually striking.
The design also highlights an important message: while JAWS made us wary of the water, hunger is the real challenge we can all work together to overcome.
Once the event wraps up, every can from our sculpture, including those packed with protein like tuna, chili, and veggies, will be donated to local food banks. Since 2007, competition participants of Canstruction Long Island have made a tremendous impact, donating more than 605,000 cans to help fight hunger on Long Island.
