H2M Receives International Recognition from 2024 Canstruction Competition

We are thrilled to share that H2M architects + engineers recently won Best Original Design in the 2024 Canstruction International Competition!

Canstruction, founded in 1992, is a unique international charity competition. Teams of architects, engineers, and contractors come together to build large, vibrant structures entirely out of canned goods. These incredible creations are displayed for public voting, and winners from the citywide competitions advance to the international stage. After the event, all the canned goods are donated to local food banks.

Our design this year drew inspiration from Shel Silverstein’s beloved book, The Giving Tree. Comprising nearly 7,800 cans, the design received accolades for Best Original Design  and Most Cans at the 18th Annual Canstruction Long Island Awards.

Canstruction participants worldwide have collectively donated an astounding 1.175 million pounds of food and raised over $640,000 in cash donations. The Long Island region alone contributed over $20,000 and 49,000 cans to food banks such as Island Harvest, Interfaith Nutrition Network, Long Island Cares, and The NEST.

“Canstruction is not just a great opportunity to give back to the community,” said our President and CEO Rich Humann, P.E. “It’s also a valuable way to build trust, teamwork, and leadership skills among our team members. We’re proud to bring to Canstruction the same spirit of innovation and collaboration that we do to all of our projects.”
