H2M Stormwater Management Article Published in NJ Municipalities

The New Jersey League of Municipalities recently published an article on stormwater management by H2M Environmental Planner Angelica Apolinaris in the April 2025 issue of its official magazine, NJ Municipalities.

The New Jersey League of Municipalities is an association that brings together over 13,000 elected and appointed officials representing all 564 municipalities in the State of New Jersey. The organization offers publications, seminars, trade shows, and other networking events to its membership with the goal of improving local governance through education and collaboration.

As an Environmental Planner, Angelica leads the development and implementation of Stormwater Management Programs and preparation of environmental review documentation in accordance with federal and state regulations. Angelica’s article highlights the importance of comprehensive stormwater management planning as well as the additional, secondary benefits that come with stormwater planning. For example, the use of green infrastructure is a mandatory part of any New Jersey stormwater management plan, as native plantings are adept at filtering pollutants out of stormwater runoff. Its secondary benefits, however, come in the form of improved air quality, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and mitigation of the heat island effect, a phenomenon that contributes to hotter average temperatures in urban areas and, by extension, higher energy costs and consumption.
