H2M Wins 14 LIBN Real Estate Awards

Earlier this year, Long Island Business News honored H2M architects + engineers with a collective 14 awards at this year’s Real Estate, Architecture & Engineering Awards.

H2M won three companywide awards for Top Architecture Firm, Top Engineering Firm, and Top Environmental/Sustainability Consultant. Additionally, H2M team members won the following five awards:

  • Lifetime Achievement: David Mammina, AIA
  • Top Architect: Jason S. Smith, R.A., LEED AP (BD+C), CSI, CDT
  • Top Engineer: Paul R. Lageraaen, P.E., P.G.
  • Rising Star – Architecture: Megan Holz, R.A.
  • Rising Star – Engineering: Danielle Drake, P.E., LEED GA

H2M project teams were also recognized with six project-focused awards:

  • Top Education Project (Turtle Hook Middle School): H2M designed three building additions to Turtle Hook Middle School in Uniondale, NY, to accommodate growing school district enrollment. Two of the new additions include classrooms, testing centers, and dedicated spaces for speech, occupational, and physical therapy. The third addition features an auxiliary gymnasium, locker rooms, and toilet facilities.

  • Top Education Project (Westbury Middle School): H2M renovated the existing auditorium at Westbury Middle School in Westbury, NY. The new auditorium can accommodate larger audiences and feature enhanced sound quality, energy-efficient theatrical and house lighting, and an expanded and refinished stage.

  • Top Private Project (The Landmark Building): H2M provided civil engineering, landscape architecture, and construction administration services for a mixed-use development in Huntington Station, NY, that features approximately 3,500 square feet of retail space and 15,000 square feet of residential space across 16 apartment units.

  • Top Public Project (Oceanside Library): H2M and MDA designgroup designed renovations and a building addition for the Oceanside Library in Oceanside, NY. The new and improved library features unique community spaces, including a theater, STEM workshop, podcast room, demonstration kitchen, craft room, café, and gallery. The design also incorporates natural elements to promote mental wellness and clarity, and an array of universal accessibility features such as ramps, diverse furniture options, and clear signage.

  • Top Residential Project (Baymen’s Cottage): H2M renovated a century-old structure in the Water Island community of Fire Island, NY, transforming it into a stunning single-family residence. The redesign included relocating the structure out of a flood zone, preserving the building’s historic aesthetic, and integrating indoor and outdoor elements via an open boardwalk and a screened room accessible from all levels.

Baymen’s Cottage (Water Island, NY)

  • Top Transportation/Infrastructure Project (Hicksville Water District Plant No. 8): H2M redesigned Hicksville Water District’s Plant No. 8 in Hicksville, NY, implementing innovative technologies to treat local drinking water for chemicals such as 1,4-dioxane and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
