H2M’s Fire Station Design Article Published in Firehouse
H2M Project Architect Rachael Grodzki, R.A., and Senior Project Architect David Sherland, AIA, NCARB, recently wrote an article titled “Designing For Tomorrow’s Fire Station, Today” that was published in Firehouse.
The article highlights the importance of adapting fire station design to accommodate new equipment, apparatus, and procedures as fire department technology and operations evolve. With the development of electric apparatus, net-zero buildings, and the growth of drones and robotics in the fire service, the functional needs of stations are ever-changing.
To support these changes, Rachael and David outline several innovative trends that fire departments can adopt, including electrification, health and wellness initiatives, enhanced training, and future-proofing strategies.
