H2M’s Katie Stone Named Oyster Bay Woman of Distinction

H2M’s Senior Associate, Deputy Municipal Market Director, and Assistant Studio Director Katie Stone, RA, was recently recognized by the Town of Oyster Bay as one of 2024’s Women of Distinction.

Each year, the Town of Oyster Bay honors 10 or more women who either live or work in the Town and have made great strides toward improving the lives of others.

A Massapequa resident, Katie was chosen for her instrumental role in H2M’s Sustainability Committee, which helps the company develop sustainable strategies to improve corporate social responsibility and overall carbon footprint. She was a driving force for change early on in the Committee’s lifetime, using her passion for environmental protection to bring H2M’s commitment to sustainability to even greater heights.

Katie also acted as Lead Mentor for H2M’s ACE Mentoring Program, a nationally-recognized program which provides valuable mentorship and inspiration for high school students interested in architecture, engineering, or construction. Each school year, H2M has an ACE Mentor Class of approximately 25 high school students who visit the office bi-weekly to work with staff. Throughout the school year, the students break up into teams and work on real design projects that they later present to other ACE groups, their families, and mentors. As Lead Mentor, Katie worked with the students to support their projects, answer questions about design procedures, and empower them to engage further with their desired industry.

Katie is both LEED-certified and WELL-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, signifying a strong commitment to and excellence in environmental sustainability and public health and wellness in her work. In 2016, the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce named her to their 30 Under 30 Young Professionals list, and in 2019, Long Island Business News named her a Rising Star in Architecture.

“I’m grateful to the Town of Oyster Bay for recognizing me alongside such remarkable women,” said Katie. “It has been a pleasure living and building a family in this beautiful community, and I look forward to finding new ways to give back.”
