NYS Distributes Grants for Modernizing Public Safety Answering Points
Earlier this year, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that $55 million in noncompetitive reimbursement grants would be available to improve emergency response communications systems throughout the state. The goal of the funding is to assist counties with buying new equipment, upgrading technology, and improving training.
Each county was awarded a specific award amount determined by a formula that considered operational scope, demographics, emergency call metrics, and adherence with state and national guidelines.
