Bellport Middle School Performing Arts Center

Expansion Design

We worked with Bellport Middle School to design an expansion to their performing arts center. The two-story addition includes a lobby; 700-seat theater; music, choral, and band suites; restrooms; space for small group gatherings; and six classrooms. The theater maximizes the audience’s experience with high quality acoustical, visual, and lighting systems. The center is attached to the existing middle school via a glass-enclosed bridge walkway. Outside community groups can also use the center without entering the school building, thereby promoting student safety.

This project also included a new central air conditioning system, which enabled year-round usage of the facility; a new sanitary system; and 200kW of solar photovoltaic cells, which received a $1.5 million rebate from the Long Island Power Authority upon completion.
