New Emergency/911 Call Center
Clarksville, NY
The Sheriff’s Office desired a new building to serve as their emergency coordination headquarters, with separate utilities and backup power providing as many of the NFPA 1221 standard features as feasible within budget. The approximately 12,000-square-foot accessible facility includes a large dispatch room holding 16 console positions and one supervisor position, as well as 20 smaller call-taker stations. The dispatch room has acoustic materials on the walls and detailed soffits for improved sound control. The adjacent Emergency Operations Center (EOC) space includes tiered curved tables with room for 40 coordinator positions, as well as curved soffits, display walls at the front and side of the room for viewing and monitoring, and multi-level lighting.
Exterior window and door openings are minimized for occupant protection from man-made threats; masonry veneer adds to ballistic protection. The site has two backup diesel generators with an option for hooking up a portable generator.
