New Athletic Fields and Aquatic Center

Farmingdale, NY

The Farmingdale community passed a $36 million bond to create, “Long Island’s first community-focused sports complex” comprising athletic fields and an aquatic center.

The 13-acre athletic field upgrades included: new synthetic turf varsity baseball and softball fields with stadium lighting, dugouts, batting cages, a bullpen, scoreboards, and bleachers for home and visiting teams; a new synthetic, multi-sport field striped for football, lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer, with LED lighting and bleachers; a 400-meter, 6-lane competition track; a comfort station; vehicular and pedestrian paths; and a plaza.

The 26,000-square-foot aquatic center houses a 75-meter, 8-lane competition pool and a 25-meter public pool with separate locker and shower facilities. The competition pool has a 3-meter diving board and elevated 350-seat bleachers. Both pools are served from a common filtration room with high efficiency pumps, condensing boilers, UV filtration system, and high-efficiency ventilation and dehumidification systems.
