Incorporated Village of Freeport Harbormaster’s Quarters
New Building Design
Freeport, NY
H2M was retained by the Incorporated Village of Freeport to design a new two-story building at Sea Breeze Park at the end of Freeport’s well known “Nautical Mile.”
The New England-style building which sits atop a grid of wood piles serves as a new destination for Long Island boaters as well as a landmark identifying the Nautical Mile for boaters returning from the inlet. Boaters are able to tie up and explore the locally-owned retail stores and restaurants the area has to offer. This building provides an office for the Village Harbormaster on the first floor and private office space on the second floor.
Additionally, fully-accessible toilet and shower facilities are provided as a convenience to the general public, along with open-air roofed-over patio space below the roof of the coastal building where people can gather to escape the heat, relax, and enjoy the waterfront experience.
