Lehighton Fire Department

Firehouse Addition

Lehighton, PA

The Borough of Lehighton Fire Department needed another 18,000 square feet of space. Their old station was so undersized that they were using the nearby police station to store fire equipment. To create the space, the Department purchased three residential properties to develop into an infill addition between the existing fire and police stations.

The client required H2M’s design team to work around the historical buildings on the old properties and maintain a consistent style. The design also needed to accommodate elevation changes on site, various floor to floor connections between new and existing buildings, and a tight budget. The infill addition now features stone sourced from local quarries, six truck bays, ADA-compliant amenities, apparatus support and maintenance areas, meeting and training rooms, a dispatch office, and much more.
