Manorville Community Ambulance
New Ambulance Headquarters
Manorville, NY
The Manorville Community Ambulance needed a new headquarters building that could house all of their apparatuses and accommodate training and administrative spaces. During the construction process, the design team discovered forgotten, buried oil tanks under the existing slab that had been leaking into an underground stream for years. H2M remediated the contamination and went above and beyond to improve the building’s sustainability by designing to the standard of LEED Silver, such as rooftop solar panels, solar hot water, daylight harvesting, geothermal heat, low water-use fixtures, pervious asphalt, and more.
At just over 15,000 square feet, the entire station is condensed onto one floor plus a basement to maintain a lower building height that fits with the surrounding residential community. The current layout is designed to handle future expansion and the needs of many more generations.
