The Massapequa Union Free School District’s high school cafeteria had not been updated since the building first opened. The institutional, narrow, enclosed serving line made the students feel dismayed and reluctant to stay on campus for lunch. The District wanted a bright, cheery space that improved safety and was equipped to serve healthy options.
We designed a new cyber café with PC workstations, gaming tables, electronic menu screens, wi-fi, and comfortable seating. The goal of the design was to adapt to modern lunchtime activities, ease the burden of maintenance, and add visual stimulation. The renovations to the commercial kitchen and server include more advanced and efficient cooking tools that allow for health-conscious menu items. Improved circulation allows students more time to eat instead of standing on line. Students and staff now take pride in their state of the art facility and the presentation of their food.
