Uniondale Union Free School District
Topographic Survey
Uniondale, NY
Uniondale Union Free School District’s nine buildings required infrastructure repairs and renovations to accommodate the increase in student enrollment. Before the design could begin, H2M’s Land Surveyors had to prepare detailed Boundary and Topographic surveys of the property and surrounding roadways at each of the nine sites.
Over the last five years, the enrollment in Uniondale increased by over 900 students; and is expected to increase by another 700 students within the next decade. Additional classrooms were needed, temporary trailer classrooms had to be replaced, and District-wide athletic turf fields and running tracks had to be renovated. However, before H2M could commence engineering design for these renovations and additions, the land surveying had to be completed.
In completing the boundary surveys, it was necessary to request title reports on all school sites. However, the record descriptions on file did not match what had been built on some of the sites; therefore, extensive record searches and additional field surveying was required in order to properly verify the property bounds.
Upon completion of the project, H2M’s Land Surveyors had surveyed over 55 acres of school property and approximately 9,000 linear feet of roadways in less than three months. They were able to produce subsurface utility mapping, topographic survey mapping, and boundary survey mapping.
