Westhampton Beach Fire District

New Headquarters Building

H2M worked with the Westhampton Beach Fire District and their construction manager to design a new 30,200 square foot headquarters to replace the old municipal building that used to house the fire department, police department and Village offices.

Site borings revealed groundwater too close to the original planned elevator pit and some column footings. To accommodate this, the entire basement has a waterproofing system.

The new 30,000 square foot facility achieved LEED Gold certification and includes sustainable elements, such as: a highly insulated building envelope; daylight harvesting; low flow plumbing fixtures; high efficiency HVAC system with an underfloor distribution system; a white roof with a high solar reflectance index; building commissioning; and low VOC-emitting materials. The building includes five drive-through apparatus bays, bunker gear and apparatus support spaces, District and Department offices, a training room, a large multipurpose/meeting room with a kitchen, a fitness center, and a firefighter recreation space.
