Thiells-Roseville Fire District Breaks Ground on New Station

On May 27, the Thiells-Roseville Fire District broke ground on its new volunteer headquarters. To support the District’s growth, a larger, more modern facility was required, which H2M fulfilled with the design of the new headquarters.

The new David B. Roche Volunteer Fire Company Headquarters will be 0.2 miles down the road from the original building, allowing the District to maintain their current response times to the community. H2M’s project architects were inspired by the nearby High Tor State Park and the historical brick manufacturing industry in the region.

The new site will feature several notable design elements, including large portal window openings that frame views of the nearby park and allow abundant natural daylight inside. Strategically placed overhangs and sunshades enhance these visual connections to nature and simultaneously exceed energy performance requirements by reducing the building’s cooling and heating loads.
