Why Community Centers Matter for Public Health, Connection
H2M Studio Director Raymond Givargis, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, and Senior Architect Herson Suquino, AIA, NCARB, RIBA, recently published an article on community centers in NJBIZ.
The article, titled “Why Community Centers Matter for Public Health, Connection,” highlights the value of municipal investments into community center facilities and the programs housed within. Community centers can bolster physical and mental wellness through athletic programs, support youth development through after-school programs, encourage social connection by bringing together members of the community, and strengthen the local economy by creating new jobs.
Givargis and Suquino also provide insight into best practices for fulfilling the community’s vision and ultimately obtaining public support for community center projects, as well as the variety of funding mechanisms, including support from local businesses, that can take the project from concept to reality.
