Makeup Lab Design
Melville, NY
H2M provided engineering design services for the installation of three large makeup kettle stations in a small makeup laboratory.
The scope of work included raising the roof to allow the kettles to fit into the room and providing steam, chilled water, compressed air, and de-ionized water to each kettle station to allow for the “cooking” of makeup. The team used existing utilities within the building for the kettles, as well as designed and provided a new steam pressure reducing valve assembly. The project expanded the laboratory from roughly 2,000 square feet to 3,200 square feet.
This project had an accelerated schedule, as H2M had to have all systems built within a few weeks of the start of construction. The goal throughout the construction period was to minimize down time and make sure the schedule was as streamlined as possible.
The steam pressure reducing valve station design and structural roof raising modifications are currently being used by Estée Lauder as a template for their future kettle installations into existing laboratories.
