St. George’s Golf and Country Club
Well Replacement
East Setauket, NY
H2M is designing a deeper replacement well for the St. George’s Golf and Country Club to improve irrigation water supply.
The existing irrigation well at St. George’s Golf and Country Club has been impacted by elevated chlorides which affected the irrigation of the golf course. As such, the Club retained H2M to evaluate irrigation water supply alternatives to resolve this situation.
H2M has reviewed information provided by the Club regarding the existing supply well, as well as available United States Geological Survey (USGS) aquifer information in the vicinity of the Club. Based on this data, our team recommended the Club install a deeper irrigation well to replace the existing shallower well, thereby eliminating the high chloride condition and associated irrigation system work required to address the chlorides in their existing well.
H2M’s team prepared and submitted a permit application and engineering report for a deeper replacement well and an increase in withdrawal capacity from 800 to 1,300 gallons per minute. The application and report was submitted to the NYSDEC for review and approval. The design included construction of a permanent well capable of producing a minimum of 1,300 gallons per minute near the existing well and well station.
The scope includes the construction of a small well station with room for fertigation system and local electrical disconnect. The main switchgear remained in the existing well station.
