H2M raises $3,500 for ALS Association as part of Ice Bucket Challenge

H2M is proud to announce that it raised $3,500 in donations as part of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The donations included $1,740 from employees, as well as a generous matching donation made by the firm.

The ALS Association is the only non-profit organization dedicated solely to fighting Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) on all fronts. The ALS Association’s mission includes providing care services to assist people with ALS and their families through a network of chapters working in communities across the nation and a global research program focused on the discovery of treatments and a cure for the disease.

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, which leads to loss of voluntary muscle movement. In addition to adjusting to the challenge of losing control of voluntary muscle movement, those afflicted with the disease progressively lose their ability to eat, speak, walk, and eventually breathe. Currently, there is only one drug approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat ALS. The drug, which only modestly extends survival by two to three months, means that ALS is consequently 100 percent fatal.

Participation in the Ice Bucket Challenge included the firm’s New York-based offices in Melville and White Plains, as well as its New Jersey-based offices in Parisppany and Howell. To view each office’s video, please visit our YouTube channel at 2MArchEng”>https://www.youtube.com/user/H2MArchEng.
