H2M Wins THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS QUALITY OF LIFE Award

Congratulations to H2M architects + engineers for receiving the Quality of Life award for the Extension of Sanitary Sewers and Drainage Improvements for River Avenue project from American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Long Island Branch.  The team received this honor along with the Village of Patchogue at the 47th Annual Awards Dinner May 31st at Westbury Manor.  With over 200 attendees, it was a humbling experience to be surrounded by so many passionate engineers looking to make an improvement in the day-to-day lives of those who live on the Island. This project alleviated the burden that aging on-site sanitary disposal systems and inadequate drainage was putting on both the environment and residential community in the area through the implementation of a low-pressure sewer system and a porous concrete gutter system. Additionally, this project serves as a model to show how low-pressure sewers can be used to benefit communities where traditional gravity sewers may not be feasible. A huge thanks to Chris Weiss Steve Hearl Gregory Levasseur, P.E. James Vierling Sean Callahan, PE Matt Mohlin of H2M, as well as Adjo Contracting Corporation and the Village of Patchogue for their collaboration on this project!
