Lou Giacalone Attends SAME Annual Dinner

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) leads collaborative efforts to identify and resolve national security infrastructure related challenges.  SAME unites public and private sector individuals and organizations from across the architecture, engineering, construction, environmental, and facility management in support of national security.

Each year the SAME New York City Post has a dinner dance for the benefit of their scholarship fund they have created.  This year’s event was held at the Grand Hyatt on Saturday, November 9, 2019 and H2M employees Louis (Lou) Giacalone, R.A., David Leun, P.E., and Brian Castelli, P.E. were all in attendance.

This event also represents the new directors’ official start.  Lou Giacalone was among one of those new directors, having officially been named a Director of the Board for the SAME New York City Post.

Lou Giacalone was the president of Ehasz Giacalone Architects, PC (EGA), until H2M architects + engineers (H2M) acquired the firm in 2017.  From early EGA days, Lou was involved with SAME.  Over the years, he established a relationship within the organization, even sponsoring a scholarship in EGA’s name for students going on to major in engineering.  Lou felt that involvement in this organization was very important, not just in aiding in America’s infrastructure and supporting the military, but in supporting the scholarship fund.

When H2M acquired EGA, it was imperative for Lou to keep up the relationship with SAME.  As he begins to shift in his own career, he wants to make sure he’s introducing the next generation of architects and engineers to the organization and all the resources within it.  He also introduced the organization as a whole to H2M, who are now sustaining members.  To keep up the relationship Lou has created and show support, H2M also attended the SAME sponsored West Point Cadet Dinner and provided silver sponsorship.  In addition, several H2M employees will be joining SAME committees to become more involved on the federal side of the industry, while also supporting such a prominent organization.

H2M is proud to recognize all of Lou’s hard work within SAME and congratulates him on being named a Director of the Board.
