New York Section of the American Water Works Association Presents Paul Ponturo the 2021 George Warren Fuller Award

Huntington, NY resident, Paul J. Ponturo, P.E., Senior Water Resources Engineer at H2M architects + engineers (H2M) has been honored by the New York Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) with this year’s George Warren Fuller Award.

This award is presented to selected members of AWWA – a national organization of water supply professionals with 57,000 members across North America – for their distinguished service to the water supply field in commemoration of the sound engineering skill, the extraordinary talent and the constructive leadership which characterized the life of George Warren Fuller.

Mr. Ponturo was awarded this honor for his commitment to AWWA and his recent leadership efforts as Chairman of the New York Section. Paul has been a member of the National AWWA organization and the New York section since 1978.

At H2M, Mr. Ponturo focuses on regulatory and compliance issues relating to public water supplies, emerging contaminant review, and monitoring program design. He is also currently involved in H2M’s efforts in expanding education and outreach opportunities to water supply within the firm.

Prior to H2M, Paul was Chief of the Office of Water Resources for the Suffolk County Department of Health Services Division of Environmental Quality where he also served as a Public Health Engineer from 1972 – 2008. As Chief, he supervised a staff of 34 engineers, hydrogeologists, sanitarians, well drillers, and office support personnel.

Paul received this award at a virtual ceremony on April 13, 2021 where he was also recognized for his commitment and time served as Chair of the New York Section of the AWWA throughout this year.
