Welcome Sanyogita Chavan as Practice Leader for the Planning Discipline

H2M architects + engineers is pleased to announce that Morristown, NJ resident, Sanyogita Chavan, AICP, PP has joined the firm as Practice Leader for the Planning Discipline out of our Parsippany, New Jersey office. Sanyogita has more than 27 years of professional experience, which has included seven years as an architect managing projects in her native India before pursuing her graduate degree in urban planning. She has more than 20 years of experience providing comprehensive land use planning services to both private and public sector clients.

As a planning consultant, Sanyogita has helped her municipal clients to guide development by preparing Master Plans, Redevelopment and Affordable Housing Plans, Historic Preservation Plans, zoning ordinance amendments, design guidelines, neighborhood and site analysis for rezoning, etc. She has also served in the capacity of a Professional Planner to Planning and Zoning Boards of Adjustments in various municipalities throughout the State of New Jersey and has managed professional teams working on long and short-term planning projects. In addition, Sanyogita has served private sector clients by providing professional testimony as an expert witness, designing streetscapes and park projects, and preparing environmental impact analyses, quantitative and fiscal impact analyses, concept plans and design services. Sanyogita left consulting six years ago to become the Planning Director for the Township of Middletown, a 45-sq mile municipality in Monmouth County, New Jersey. In this role, she directed department personnel to ensure efficient service to the Township residents, developers, governing body, boards, and commissions. Combining her public and consulting experience will be very valuable in successfully serving H2M’s clients.

Sanyogita holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Sir J. J. College of Architecture, University of Mumbai and a Master of Urban Planning from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She also serves on the Redevelopment Committee of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association.

In her role as Practice Leader, Sanyogita will oversee the everyday operations of the department and manage its many projects, including streetscape plans, design guidelines, redevelopment, Master Plans and ordinance preparation, affordable housing, municipal board representation, private testimony and land planning.
