Saratoga County recently unveiled a new public safety facility. The new building is a state-of-the-art facility that will bring a number of departments under one roof and provide more resources to keep residents safe. The purpose of this essential service facility is to combine the County Emergency Services, Emergency Operations Center, 911 Call Center, Sheriff’s Office, Public Health, and Probation Departments to one location for efficiencies in space, coordination, communication, emergency power, community training, and outreach.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, Office of Emergency Services, and the County Health Department share similar missions and work hand-in-hand during emergency situations. Their co-location near the existing communications tower on County owned land is intentional; this placement allows for future growth and provides the County with a central location for all of its emergency response needs.
County officials cut the ribbon on the Paul E. Lent Public Safety Facility, which is named after former Galway Town Supervisor, Paul Lent who was killed in a farming accident just before construction started in 2018.
H2M architects + engineers designed how all the physical footprints of the various departments would work efficiently under one roof. The design received an ACEC New York Gold Award for the 2021 Engineering Excellence Competition as well as a Bronze award at the Law Enforcement Design Awards in the Public Safety Center category.
